Somewhere above the timberline, Dan & Waylie Pike are doing their best to hold the marriage together. But Waylie is a woman living far from her world, and Dan is man who loves his work (and his horse) more than just about anything else. As it turns out; a cowboy marriage is a hard thing to keep going.

Above the Timberline is a loping cowboy tale with song that explores the challenges of isolation and the tribulations of life and love when you’re secluded from the world, all through the filter of classic folk music.

This show is written by local Playwright Jorj Savage and will Preview August 6-9. Opening night is August 13 and this show runs Thu-Sat at 8pm and Sun at 2pm through September 5, 2015.

Other details:
We will consider everyone that auditions regardless of union status.

Character Breakdown / Project Needs
CAST – *All characters sing – a familiarity with folk music is not necessary, but is helpful. All casting is color-blind.

Dan Pike: (M, 21 – 35) A working class cowboy in the truest sense, Dan is devoted to his work.

Waylie Pike: (W, 21 – 35) She moved up the mountain to be with Dan and has spent every moment since wondering if that wasn’t a very bad idea.

Irish: (M, 25 – 45) Dan & Waylie’s one connection to the world back below the Timberline, he ferries food and stories up the mountain and refuse and secrets back down again.

The Singer: (any) Our occasional narrator and master of ceremonies for the evening. Folk music experience and ability to play guitar is needed.

Musicians: We are looking for a small group of musicians to fill out the evening – those familiar with guitar, banjo or any other traditional folk instruments are encouraged to submit.

Audition/Interview Dates:
5/29 at 7-10pm, 5/30 at 12-4pm

Callbacks or second audition/interview?
5/31 at 12-4pm

Audition Requirements:
Those auditioning for Irish, Dan or Waylie, please prepare a one-minute comedic monologue and, if possible, a brief folk song. Monetary compensation:
This does pay a stipend from Box Office sales.
