Che Guevara, a medical doctor, grew from being dismayed with what he saw around him, to being a dissident, a rebel, a warrior, an idol,  a symbol, perhaps a god. People loved him and suffered along the way.

The Gate

Set during the Korean war,  a black American GI and his Korean love, who decide to get married despite the most “well-intentioned” objections of everyone around them. Cultural misunderstandings continue to pursue them once they move to the States, but their quiet love and mutual respect eventually triumphs.

Wonder what it takes to be a working professional producer?
Join renowned producer, Larry Estes as he goes through what is takes to be a producer and what it is like to work as a professional producer in the field today. The workshop covers a wide-ranging survey of the aspects of real motion picture producing including Legal Acquisition of Literary Material; Development of Screenplay; Preparation of Schedule and Budget; Casting; Post Supervision; Festivals and Screenings; and Distribution — The things that make producers producers.

Larry Estes, profiled in the New York Times as “Hollywood’s Quiet Godfather”, is the former Senior Vice President of Feature film Acquisitions at RCA/Columbia Pictures, later operating an arm of Columbia Tristar Homevideos acquisition program specializing in quality independent feature film development and financing. Estes was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the Entertainment Business by both Entertainment Weekly and Premiere Magazines. His films at CTHV include Steven Soderbergh’s SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE, Allison Anders’ GAS FOOD LODGING, Carl Franklin’s ONE FALSE MOVE (co-starring and co-written by Billy Bob Thornton), John Sayles’ CITY OF HOPE and PASSION FISH, Neal Jimenez & Michael Steinberg’s THE WATERDANCE, Bobcat Goldthwait’s SHAKES THE CLOWN, and John Turturro’s MAC. He was responsible for selection and supervision of more than 60 movies and more than $125 million in financing during his time there. Other highlights include accepting The Christopher Award from the Interfaith Council for producing SMOKE SIGNALS, 16 of his films have premiered at Sundance. Estes also served on the faculty of the University of Arizona in Tucson, as a Professor of Practice and taught feature film producing (not “production”) to the filmmakers of The Future.

A late night talk and variety show hosted by, well, comedian Elicia Sanchez and her lovely and talented co-host/band leader, comedian/non-musician Nick Sahoyah! Each month NTL brings you a variety of performers, stunts, comedians, special guests, musical acts, random weirdness and general late night antics to thrill, surprise and mostly entertain you!

This month we welcome to the NTL stage: Exreme Skipping Legend, EXTREME GENE! The comedic talents of locally beloved, VAL NIGRO! A chat with NTL’s Official Correspondent on Everything Cool, 10 yr old AVA! A wondrous and weird musical experience by local duo THE BALLARD BOYZ! A crowd-pleasing “karaoke off” with the NTL crew! Another installment of SEATTLE’S GOT SPECIAL UNIQUE AND PRAISE-WORTHY TALENT! And a closing comedy performance by Seattle’s own, the hilarious ANDY IWANCIO!

Emily Heller is a comedian and writer who likes you very much. You may have seen her once or twice on Conan, on the third season of John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show on Comedy Central, or as one of the New Faces at the 2012 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. She has been named a Comic to Watch by both Variety and Comedy Central. She is the creator and star of the Above Average series The Future. She served as a writer on the FOX comedy Surviving Jack and is currently a series regular on the TBS comedy Ground Floor. As far as nicknames, she prefers “Hell Bone.”
