In the Seattle of 1955 the five year old daughter of an alcoholic politician and his very pregnant Irish Catholic wife has been missing for four days. In the midst of an intense police search and investigation of the girl’s colorful brother as a possible murder suspect, the estranged brother of the politician, an Elizabethan scholar, arrives from New York to lend support but old family skeletons surface quickly. The family must come together or be torn apart, as they are forced to face the truth about the traumatic situation and themselves.
