Casting Call for The Misanthrope

Casting for The Misanthrope by Moliere

Producer: Rik Deskin, Eclectic Theater Company

Director: Kate Huisentruit

The Misanthrope is Moliere’s comic drama about the foibles of bourgeois society and those who rail against it. Alceste, the misanthrope (a person who dislikes humanity in general), vows to abandon gossip and flattery and always tell the truth. Celimene, whom Alceste falls in love with, epitomizes the falsity and hypocrisy of bourgeois high society. The Misanthrope shows how in the end, they both wind up alone.
